Exaggerated Expectations of Profit
In the banking world, especially, in recent years yield has been used as a measure of success. Yet it is known that increased yield does not necessarily create added value. In addition, high yields could not be achieved without at the same time taking on high risk. A risky business strategy and/or a rise in the rate of debt are proven means of leveraging yields, but for stockholders these strategies do not create added value.
